album cover-depth and perception

In this picture there are several dondis elements present to make this album cover successful. One that is very obvious throughout is overlap. The small heads overlap making some seem bigger than others as well as making some appear as if they are in front or back. Also relative height and size determine what heads are in front or back. The relative size between the big heads and small make it seem as if the small heads are in the background. Also as the small heads go up it sort of gets narrower practicing linear perspective but then starts to evolve back out. The lines and shading in the sketched faces show texture gradient and in the individual heads of hair then the texture reduces as you get higher to suggest depth. It also makes the faces seem 3-d and not flat, but it's interesting because the faces don't have depth except for the eyes nose and mouth. The depth perception in this cover is kind of hard to read because it is so scattered and parts of the image overall are flat. But the use of texture gradient and relative height and size make this piece interesting.
